Fraser is from Scotland, from where many innovations have come - such as golf, TV, penicillin, the fridge, the telephone, the SAS (British special forces) and the author of Sherlock Holmes! He was surprised to be called into youth ministry in his late 20's and ended up serving as a youth pastor in three countries. Anne comes from the Philippine archipelago, consisting of 7,107 islands. Much of its culture has been borrowed from the Spanish and Americans. The people there are friendly, hospitable, religious and resilient. Anne has done youth ministry for decades and now trains other youth workers - some of them helped her do the video for this project! Mark comes from a Dutch family with a rich Christian heritage. Holland is known for famous painters, has virtually no hills, and they have a superb football (soccer) team - although they are really struggling just now! After serving at many urban youth camps in Tennessee, USA, Mark developed a deep love for teenagers there. But God closed that door and re-ignited his dream to work with young people, keeping him in his home country where the church he serves has been blessed with wonderful growth. Zeeshan lives in Karachi, a huge city in Pakistan. Despite having a diverse population, love for children, honor for women, care for the oppressed, and respect for elders are regarded as primary values. The national language is Urdu and the official language is English. He says, “The presence of God is everywhere, and I have felt it since I was ten years old!”. Matt grew up in the middle of Wales, a modern Celtic nation known by some as 'the land of song’, and where a significant percentage speak Welsh. Now in his mid-thirties Matt is married to Hannah and they have two young children. He is an ordained Elim Pentecostal pastor and, as well as loving seeing young people come to faith, he loves English Premiership football (soccer) and especially motor cars! Lorna has served for many years as a youth pastor in a small town called Linlithgow, near Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. The country is known all over the world for its tartan, kilts, mountains, lochs, castles, rain and whisky, but most importantly for the friendly people who live there. After many years serving as a volunteer youth worker Lorna gave up her job in finance and went into full time youth ministry at an independent evangelical church at age 38. Gary is from the USA, and as a grandfather is the most mature member of our team of youth pastors. As an insecure teenager he says he was “transformed by Christ into an engaged, relational evangelist” to his friends at school. He has been at the same Presbyterian church in Colorado for over twenty years, having lived in Germany beforehand. Eero has a Pentecostal background and comes from Finland. He is married with two children, and has four brothers and three sisters! After working in a sawmill for many years he went into youth ministry and has been there for 15 years. Apart from having brilliant rally car drivers he says that Finns do not give up easily - their brave soldiers prevented the Russians taking their capital city during World War II, one of only three European capitals to hold off invading armies. Ron is married with two grown up children and comes from Australia. He says he was “surprised, and a little offended, by God’s call into youth ministry” (!). He has dealt with illness and two major operations extended his life; since then he has served in three Anglican churches as a youth pastor. Nathan was brought up in a Christian home and came to faith as a child after being punished for an offence he did not commit: he realised that Christ had been punished in his place, choosing the cross. Vowing never to become a pastor like his father, Younus grew greatly in his faith whilst a college student. After working in the financial services industry in Hyderabad, India, he served for many years as a youth pastor in an Assemblies of God church where he is still on staff.
